Detailed Product Description:
Wilbers Shock Absorber Type 641/631
Optimized responsiveness and great reserves result in very secure road grip for lots of traction with high comfort - overall, a clearly improved road position.
The compensating reservoir ensures consistent damping effect even under heavy loads (racing track, off-road, vacation tour, high temperatures).
It is often surprising what is still possible with these suspension elements, even with supposedly good original suspensions.
Details:
- The adjustment knobs for the low and high-speed range of the compression stage, each adjustable in 22 steps, are easily accessible from the outside
- of course, the spring base is infinitely adjustable and the rebound stage is adjustable through an open bleed system with 22 clicks over an extremely wide range
- due to the extremely wide adjustment range, the right system for normal road use, racing tracks, world travel, and all other applications
- 642 with large 46 mm piston diameter, 632 with 36 mm piston diameter when space conditions do not allow for a larger diameter
- at maximum compression speeds, a pressure relief valve prevents the shock absorber from hydraulically locking and introducing uncontrolled shocks into the suspension
- with compensating reservoir on the hose to optimally position it (also for cooling)
- radial piston, wet lubrication, and PTFE-guided pivot bearings
- as Blueline with blue spring and red rebound adjustment ring or as Blackline with black spring and silver adjustment ring
- in a few models, there is also a Nightline version available for an additional charge where the mounts at the top and bottom are also black
- for models with two shock absorbers as TS version (twin shock) in pairs as stereo shock absorbers - see selection field or article description
- version +625 (see selection field or article description) = including hydraulic spring preload with adjustment via handwheel for quick and easy handling with frequently changing occupancy/load
- version +629 (see selection field or article description) = including manual height adjustment at the shock absorber mounting
- for a homogeneous driving behavior, it is always recommended to use the shock absorbers together with the Wilbers fork springs
- Wilbers shock absorbers are generally not stock items, they are built to order and therefore require a certain delivery time
WARNING: There are no "off-the-shelf" shock absorbers - the shock absorber is made exactly for you according to your specifications.
After ordering, relevant data such as rider and possibly passenger weight (including equipment), possibly luggage weight, frequency of rides with a passenger in %, and preferred purpose/style of riding (touring with luggage, racing track, sporty on country roads, etc.) and more will be requested by our customer service or on-site in the store.
It does make a difference whether a 60 kg person usually rides alone or the maximum permissible weight is utilized - the spring rate and damping will then be chosen accordingly.
With these shock absorbers, raising and lowering of the suspension is also possible.
Please also note that for this special custom-made product, a return or exchange is excluded.
Approval (Germany):
With ABE for most models.
The supplied ABE booklet must be carried during the ride.
Registration in the vehicle documents is possible for convenience, but not necessary.
If there are major changes (e.g., with raising and lowering) or it is an exotic or just newly released model, a TÜV certificate for approval at the inspection stations can alternatively be provided.
For our Swiss customers:
Please note that in Switzerland, the road legislation does not correspond to the EU. Clarification for release for the motorcycle vehicle inspection in Switzerland must be clarified in the store/online shop before ordering. Technical articles that are rejected for registration cannot be returned. Costs may arise for issuing a necessary Swiss certification if the goods were not purchased in Switzerland.
Options:
With a binding order in one of our stores, there are still the following customization options (which unfortunately cannot be implemented via shipping for logistical reasons):
- without additional charge, raising or lowering is also possible with most models - you can find out what is possible with your model in the store
- if you cannot find your model here, ask in one of our stores, there is a suitable shock absorber for almost every motorcycle and quad, they can even be custom-made according to specifications or template (possibly with an additional charge)
- the same applies to hydraulic spring preload (Option 625) and manual height adjustment (Option 629) - both are also possible with most shock absorbers for an additional charge if they cannot be found here
