Klasing-Verlag On the Vespa through the USA
Three friends in the middle of their lives are seeking an adventure. Thus, in 2014 - just in time for the traditional "Anrollern" on May 1st - they embark on an extraordinary journey: As Team Motorliebe, they cross the USA with three old Vespas.
The starting point is Los Angeles, the destination: New York City. Around 9000 km on small roads, through vast expanses, unknown places, and glittering metropolises. With only ten horsepower, the three chug through the third largest country in the world - encountering sympathetically crazy people, battling gusts of wind and giant trucks, getting stranded in Native American territories, and repeatedly being reconciled by landscapes otherwise only known from postcards. Their adventure has a very special pace - the soundtrack plays in two strokes.
These strokes are provided by the engines of their three Vespas PX 200 from the 80s. With special paintwork (one in the colors of the US flag, one "Italian" Vespa, and one in the Japan design), they drive an average of 80 km/h, on good days maybe 100.
Alongside colorful adventures, route and travel descriptions, technical information about the Italian cult vehicle, and many humorous anecdotes, this road story delivers fantastic photos. Each stage is described, none of the many repairs are left out. Even the individual coordinates, altitudes, gradients, fuel and oil consumption are precisely provided for anyone who wants to follow the route.
This road story marks the beginning of a whole new travel feeling: With the Vespa around the world!
