Product description

Fits these bikes

Honda presented the CBR 1100 XX as a “supreme-quality sporty touring bike” in 1996. Producing an output of 164 h.p. and a top speed of 284 km/h, it was at the top of its class as far as performance and speed were concerned. In the first 2 years, the water-cooled 4-cylinder engine was fitted with carburettors; since 1999 it has had fuel injection and a catalytic converter. Both versions are known for delivering top performance. The CBR 1100 XX aspired less, however, to the crown of power show-off and speed king, but was rather a forward-looking Honda motorbike. The combination braking system was testament to this, as were the chassis, fairing and equipment that were enough to meet practically every desire. Thanks to Honda’s proverbial reliability and attention to detail, the CBR 1100 XX quickly established itself as a quintessential nippy everyday touring bike that can be a faithful servant to its owner over many years when cared for properly. But despite optimum maintenance and care, there can be times on the streets of this world when a problem crops up and there is no Honda workshop nearby, and for that this book was written.

This handbook includes the following chapters:
– tests from the magazine “Motorrad”: 164 h.p. open carburettor version from 1996, 150 h.p. fuel-injected version from 1999, used bike buyer’s guide from 2001
– workshop: the right tools for use in the hobby workshop and many special mechanics’ tips
– how to wash and care for your motorbike properly
– detailed step-by-step explanations of how to carry out your own maintenance and servicing
– all the approved tyres for the Honda CBR 1100 XX from Avon, Bridgestone, Continental, Dunlop, Metzeler, Michelin and Pirelli
– professionally removing/replacing wheels
– caring for, maintaining and repairing the brakes
– adjusting the steering, changing the fork oil
– removing/replacing suspension strut and swingarm
– maintaining, charging and replacing the battery
– checking the charging and ignition system
– checking the lights and changing bulbs
– changing fuses and relays
– fuel system: cleaning the air filter, troubleshooting the carburettor and injection system
– removing/fitting the exhaust system
– lubricating system: the right motor oil for the 4-cylinder bike, changing the oil yourself
– correctly maintaining the chain, fitting a new chain
– adjustment, care, dismantling and repair of the clutch and gears
– repairing the starter motor
– detailed troubleshooting guide with instructions and tips for repair
